Nacer Dos Veces
Nacer Dos Veces, Twice Born, is a project where I am photographing other 1st generation and 2nd generation Latines. This process of introducing, getting to know, and photographing other Latines reconnects me with others that came from a similar background. I am finding my own voice in my culture again. Photographing is a tool to help me create and build relationships and connections. As the photographer, inevitably the power and attention is in my hands, I am forcing myself to be seen. I am collaborating with my subjects by allowing them to pick the location of their portrait. My subjects choose their poses and how they would like to be captured, with some of my direction. My subjects are artists, teachers, body technicians, musicians, and much more.
